Congratulations to our daughter-in-law, Jamie Lynn Gray on winning the Gold in Women's 50m 3 position Small bore Rifle this morning in London. She shot an Olympic Record 592/600 in qualifying and another Olympic Record 99.9 in the Final for a 691.9 Total. She finished 5th in 10m Air Rifle last Saturday missing a medal by 2 pts. Jamie (Beyerly) hails from Lebanon, PA and married Doug and Susie's son Hank at Ft Benning, GA last Labor Day. Hank shoots International Rifle for the AMU.
Obviously we are proud. See you all at the Grand and Cardinal Center. Doug & Susie

I think this is the young lady I saw in a interview, where she was defending shooting sports as getting a bad rap.

Jamie is a graduate of the Palmyra (PA) Sportsmen's Association's smallbore team and her shooting as a member of that team earned her a full scholarship to the University of Alaska. I was an officer and director of that club and watched her shoot her way through middle and high school. I'm certain that her parents, Rod and Karen Byerly, are very proud of her, too.
We had another girl earn a scholarship to the University of Kentucky. Palmyra's is a top-shelf program and hosts an invitational shoot every year to which they invite the top collegiate teams. Often, the club's team of much younger, less experienced shooters would beat the college teams, including those from West Point and Annapolis.
Their coach was and probably still is Erin Gestle; his training quality was obvious soon after he took over the program.
The club is located just a few miles from Hershey, Pennsylvania.
