Had a rib come pop off durring a shoot.Didn't hurt anything. I caught it in mid air while everyone was looking to see if the bird was broke. I walked to the car got oAt my other mod 12 came back finished shooting and no one new the difference. Anyway I tried the recommended PERMATEX # 81158. It stayed on the barrel and the rib but seperated between the barrel and rib. I am asumming its due to the type of fluids I use to clean out any build up of plastic wad foulings in the barrel. I sometimes used it on the outside to clean the barrel. Kroil & Mystery oil 50/50. Anybody got any suggestions. Wild Bill

The 3M VHB double stick tape is by far the best tape for attaching anything.there are about 30 types and I don't have the numbers, but if you search the internet you can get that information. And of course ABH is a moron, do not use JBweld.

Trying to decipher what you're trying to explain.

1. What kind of gun are we talking about? You say you got your "other model 12", so is the gun that experienced the failure a model 12 as well?

2. What kind of failure? Rib to post, post to barrel, add-on rib to existing rib? What actually came off of your gun?

Gun was a field mod. 12 16 field. After market rib. Not a add on.

Who's aftermarket rib? Simmons, Moneymaker, DIY? How was it originally installed?

Hey DICKgtax,

Only a moron would put on an after market rib with two sided tape. Your name seems to fit you well.

I got some black adhesive from Marble Arms to attach a rib about 9 years ago. The rib was from Numrich, and the gun was an 1100 field model.

The adhesive has not hardened, and the rib is nicely in place. At the time the lady said it was the same stuff they use to hold golf clubs on the shaft.

If I had to do it again I would look for that same product.

ABH: I apologize. If I had read it more closely I would have realized he was talking about an aftermarket rib on a plain barrel, not an add-on rib. I thought you were making a joke. Again, mea culp.

It takes a big man to admit, in public, when he's wrong. Apology accepted.
