If we ever had a vintage trap event somewhere, what would be the break point defining "vintage".

Some guns were vintage but still produced in the '80's.

and, no glass balls...

Let's have a Model 12, Model 37, Model 97, Reminton 1100, Rem48, Browning Superposed shoot. Or simply put any gun that was designed before 1964.

No we can't forget Ithaca. That's why I recanted and said any gun designed before 1964. All original. No custom stocks or ribs etc. Guns must be stock as they came out of the box.

John

Shooters must wear full suit and tie along with a full brimmed hat.

The field need be set up with actual posts at the shooting positions. The targets must be hand set and thrown.

How about guns before 1940? I hate to say it but a 48, 1100 or a superposed do not belong in a vintage shoot. I agree with the white shirt, tie, and hat. Three hole hand set targets would be a must. The post with a box at each shooting position is nice. Paper shells with fiber wads. No swearing, or chewing. Ladies in long dresses and hats is a nice touch also, whether shooting or spectating. I think 50 16 yard, 50 25 yard, and 25 pair of doubles would be an interesting venue? No speakers, hand pullers only.

The skeet boys do this. Check out article in ShotgunSports June 2012 issue. They actually have a world championship once a year. Guns and rules prior to 1952.

I opened this post before anyone responded, but had to put some thought into it. jmho, Bill

Yes, breathtaking lol..

Model 21, yep. probably SBT guns for singles and caps.

4E, 5E etc. Parkers,

What if it was 100 years. anything designed prior to 1912!

I have an issue with Model 12's just because they are quite prevalent now!

I'd hate to see BigDon walk away with this one! lol

If I see you guys at the GLG, we can sit around and talk about it..

meanwhile... I found this from Sparta...

Colonel Leigh Coffin retired.

I believe he was 92 when I took this in 2006...

1897 Black Diamond..

Jim, anything made prior to 1912 may include a lot of the guns you listed also? If prior made only, the shooter pool would be mighty small in my opinion.

yes, just needs more thought.

I guess if you take off the recoil devices, adj stocks. etc.

it would even things out a bit.

My '62 superposed Broadway's not happy though, being designed in '26-27!!

I think I'll find a '97 pump...

OK you guys. The Minneapolis Gun Club is have a Vintage Gun Shoot this August 25th.

Go to the above website and click on the Vintage Gun Shoot.

I've bought more vintage guns for this shoot than I'll ever have time to shoot in one day but what the hell......we only go around once.

I know there is one person coming from Kentucky to participate.

I'll post the Flyer so you can see what's going on.

I would have to take my 31TC out of my gun safe to shoot it. With all the smoked targets with these great guns being used, the fire dept. would be coming with all the 911 calls that they would receive.

This would be trapshooting at it's finest. It would be fun to see how many of us actually shot better shooting these fine older guns. Steve Balistreri

Here is the Flyer/program for the Minneapolis Gun Club Vintage Gun Shoot.

Photobucket

We opted to set the rule at pre-64 so more people can shoot it. We may have a pre 1940 class as the shoot grows but we just want to give shooters a chance to get their old gun out of the safe and have some fun with it.

We are going to have a perpetual Cutts Skeet Trophy that will stay and be displayed at MGC. The rule this year is that it can be a later gun but MUST have an original Cutts Compensator. No dial-a-duck chokes.

The entry is going to be $25.00 per event, lunch included. Shoot all 3 events for $65.00.

C'mon out, enjoy the day and bust some clays.©

Hope to see you there.

Jimmy, you will certainly get more shooters if the guns were designed before 1964. There will no doubt be a lot of 870s then because it was first produced in 1950. You won't please evrybody with the pre 1964 cut off but you goota do it somewhere!
