What are some good motels to stay in for the PITA grand?

Good Luck, there are 2 over priced motels in Tumwater and there is the Best Western which has very dirty rooms( i checked out after 1 hour last year). The only others are in Lacey- check w/ expedia on the net.

PITA didn't get a deal with anyone this year- they cater to the Rv'ers only and do not care about those who travel from afar and need rooms- i have complained to them every year about this.

Blackfoot... That statement is entirely untrue. We have made many concentrated efforts to secure reliable lodging during the Grand, however, the surrounding motels seem unwilling to deal. I have found one of the best motels, for the money, to be the Motel 6 in Centrailia. Very nice place to eat right next door. This is only about 20 minutes from the shoot, and the rooms were very clean and the motel was nicely maintained. The Motel 6 on Lee's Ave is another story. Not so good... Dan Thome (Trap2)

I agree with Trap2. Motel6 in Centralia was good. Not very far from stores or eating establishments. The room was clean and the people were great to deal with. It didn't take long to get to the range. Gene Hunt

This is a prime time for the Pacific Northwest. There are so many travelers coming into the area and so many things happening in a two month period. This is the only time it doesn't rain. Baseball/Softball tournaments run all summer. Large baseball complex in the Centralia/Chehalis area. Bike and motorcycle races,lots of fishing Derby's. Mountain climbing for Mt Rainier and St Helen's. July and August you can see about all 50 state license plates in this area. They all have to stay somewhere.

Now if you tried to cut a deal in February, I'm sure we could. All you would have to do is put up with a little rain. LOL

I am surprized that something has not been worked out with the Lucky Eagle Casino. It is fairly close driving the back roads. I go there on a regular bases for dinner when staying at Evergreen for either the State or the Grand shoots. Three years ago the casino was running a shuttle bus back and forth between the gun club and the casino. I have not seen the shuttle bus the last two years though. I too would not recommend any hotels in Tumwater. go a little bit farther to Olympia, Lacey,Centraila, or Chehalis. The hotel at the casino is nice but you are looking at about $105.00+ a night on an average. There are several restuarants in the casino and you only have to walk across the steet the get there from the hotel. They even have a covered skybridge so you do not have to contend with the cars to cross the street if you want to use it.

Jim, I don't know if you remember a couple of years ago when the casino was a big sponser for the Grand- they were charging $200 a nite during the shoot!It is a nice place-Maybe things are different this year.

I went to their web site and looked up prices. Now their web site like many others could be outdated but I was sure it said 2011 prices. I could be wrong though, happens all the time.

I am not looking for a great deal, just a nice room not far from the shoot.

I guess I don't understand putting on a "Grand" and not arranging for and recommending hotels.

We would like to support the PITA, but a shoot without accomodations is kind of hard to get interested in.

Politics and tradition aside, if the area can't supply enough rooms for the shoot, shouldn't the shoot be moved?

What is the plan for drawing shooters to the event, if they can't stay near-by?

Just my thoughts.

There are plenty of rooms around Evergreen.

The reality is this.........there aren't very many clubs in the region that are big enough to host a shoot of this size. And, the other clubs in the region that could potentially host an event of this size don't have any better options for accommodations.

I've stayed in Lacey, Tumwater, and Olympia for shoots at Evergreen (in addition to RVing which is the most fun option) and never had a problem.

Plenty of rooms? Why didn't the PITA folks do a deal with some of the closer motels/ hotels months in advance- like 6-9 mos in advance?

This is the only major shoot that doesn't do a deal with the surrounding accomdations to get a special rate- look at the other shoots and they all provide a specail discount for rooms.

The PITA focus is always on the camping sites for RV'ing and not for the shooters who travel from afar and need local rooms to stay.

I have requested every year that the PITA excutive group address this issue- what about those of us who need to travel to the Grand and do not have RV's.How about a shoot discount in the surrounding area?
