Just out of curiosity , - what is "lock time", and why is it so important? (and how in the heck can it cause you to miss targets?)

I just rebuilt my BT-99 Golden Clays after ~6 years of hard use (complete with a new hammer and sear), and the old hammer spring was as strong as the new one.

If anything, the stock spring is too powerful (based on the indent dimple that I saw in the old hammer).
