I sure wish this event and the CYSSA state event were not on the same weekend, Something really neeeds to change there is hundreds of kids that would love to do both events
Broke Trap Dad, This has been the date for the California Youth State Championships for the past 11 years. Last year when the CYSSA was formed the powers that be in that organization decided to host their shoot on the same day. Since some of the coaches and CYSSA Board memebers had been involved for many years in the SCTP, they knew the date and chose to throw their new shoot over Kingsburg anyway effectively eliminating any chance of shooting at Kingsburg for the CYSSA kids..
This year, after contact by some concerned in the CYSSA, it was was put out to the CYSSA that they could have their shoot at the Kingsburg Gun Club on June 16th, along with the SCTP, AIM and what ever other organiations wanted to bring their teams to compete for State Championships.
The CGSTA was asked what would be required. We answered that the requirements would be to pay a $3.00 usage fee ( daily fee) per kid. Tragets would be 22.00 per 100 for all shooters. Lunch would be availible from the Kingsburg Gun Club and all the amenities would be in place as always ( tram, vendors, camping, office personel, scorers, loaders, PAT Traps on all fields and Canterbury Voice releases on all traps.) The CGSTA would do all the office work and registration ect. All Organizations would be responsible for all their own awards and an Awards ceremony at the end of the day would have included all organizations and a chance to present their own trophies to winners.
This was rejected by the CYSSA as they wanted the other organizations to move to another day and give June 16th date to CYSSA alone. Since this was not an option the CYSSA decided that they would take their shoot elsewhere.
As stated in the original post this shoot is open to any and all youth that would like participate. We encourge all to attend. As you can see we are not keeping any kid from shooting at this venue. Quite the opposite! Kingsburg nor the CGSTA changed anything.
Again if anyone has any questions or would like clarification on any point please IM me or email me and I can give you my phone number.

Thanks Kym for posting the facts. It sounds as if CYSSA is still looking for a club to host their event. Last I heard it was between Reno and Las Vegas. How are these sites cheaper than attending Kingsburg at $22 a hundred? I hope everyone is paying attention as this proves once again that some have been mislead in what the facts truly are.
Up to the top for the kids and youth shooting with personal agendas set aside.

CYSSA asked for practice traps all the trap houses be open score keepers and food and they said CYSSA was demanding to much CYSSA will be shooting there 600-700 kids in Stockton good luck with your 40 shooters
BigEdAAA
I am not sure what you are referring to as "Demanding". The CGSTA provided the information requested by CYSSA and never demanded anything. Again I do believe some are being mislead with what the correspondence was between CYSSA and the CGSTA. I am sure the correspondence can be supplied to you from the CGSTA. I think you should ask the CYSSA if they would be willing to do the same and compare to see what erroneous information has been supplied to you and others.
As usual all traps would be open including practice. Kingsburg has always taken care of all the other necessities. The only demand was given by CYSSA and that was to kick the kids in SCTP and AIM to another day so CYSSA can do what we (CYSSA) want to do on Saturday.
Question for you. Why did CYSSA choose to throw their tournament on the same day that SCTP had for the last eleven years? Why does CYSSA not want to shoot with other organizations on the same day? How much did it cost to shoot targets last year during the event at Stockton as it was only $20 per hundred at Kingsburg? How many days did CYSSA have to shoot to accomplish the same thing that was done in one day at Kingsburg?
You may email or pm me anytime. I will also forward my number to anyone that may want to discuss this further. Email is california_ata@yahoo.com
Thanks,
James Hammond
California Delegate
Big Ed AAA,
This is how rumors get started, an I encourage you to get the FACTS before posting a false comment. Practice traps will be open, in fact practice will be open from 12:00pm ( that would be noon) on Friday June 15th. Practice will also open at 8:00 am on Saturday June 16th. The traps will be open all day. Lunch will be served as always by the capable folks of Kingsburg, They have always done a great job with their food and will continue to do so. Scorekeepers and full trap personel have always been scheduled to be on hand to work. At NO TIME were any of these items ever not in the equation. I am not sure as to where you heard these RUMOURS and that is all they are FALSE RUMOURS but I suggest that you go back to your source and inform them that you were given FALSE information.
The CYSSA was given the opportunity to shoot at Kingsburg at the Youth shooting day which will serve as the California State Championships for the AIM porgram and the SCTP program,( this could have served as the CYSSA State Championships right along with the others). The CYSSA informed us ( that would be the CGSTA) that they wanted the entire gun club to itself, and the other youth organization could shoot on another day. That is what we declined. Period. We are not going to move aside kids that have been shooting on that day just because another group demanded it.
I have stated all the facts and just for clarification here they are again: All youth are invited to attend, all traps will be open and outfitted with PAT TRAP machines and Canterbury Voice calls.Target cost for youth shooting this event is $22.00 per 100 + a one time only $3.00 daily fee for a total of $47.00 dollars for the day ( shells are the responsiblity of the shooter) All traps will feature a scorekeeper and have loaders to ensure that targets are in the machines. There will be lunch available. Practice will be availible starting on Friday June 15th and continuing on Saturday june 16th.There will be camping available, there will be office personel availible to check scores, post scores, figure out trophies and do all monetary transactions. There will be bathrooms availible ( had to throw that one in just in case someone might think they would be unavailible) there will be tram service availible, there will be a trophy ceremony on the grounds in the big patio area in front of the club house. A photographer is going to be there. Vendors will be at the shoot, T-shirts will be at the shoot. All groups will offer their own trophies. And most importantly there will be kids shooting and having a great time competing with their friends both on their teams and with friendships that have been made over the years.
Good luck to the CYSSA shooters.
Please feel free to contact any CGSTA board member or the California ATA delgate if there are in furture questions. We have posted the facts and signed our names.I will give anyone that requests it my phone number ( in a private message please)to discuss any rumour that may be flying around.

Any and all persons interested in this shoot, please know that there are false rumours going around about how this shoot is going to be run. It has been put out to some youth shooters that the SCTP will be awarding trophies based on a "Lewis System", this again is FALSE information. Winners are based on scores. Period. Not sure who insists on spreading information of this nature!!!!!!!!!!
I encourage all those interested in getting the facts to join us at Newman Swamp Rats club on Saturday May 19th. We ( the CGSTA and the ATA delegate for California) will be on hand to answer all questions and concerns.
Anyone needing my number can either IM me or email me at kymhughes@comcast.net if you can not make this meeting. It is time to stop the rumours and get the facts. False information only hurts the kids. I can and will email anyone that is interested all facts to print out or they may print this post. As you can see I sign my name and provide a contact point. Nothing to hide here.
Thank you all.

Kym,
I propose that if any parent or coach wants to discuss the rumors that have been occurring through the CYSSA leadership we establish a second meeting to take place while we are in the north. We can hold this meeting at another location where more parents are able to attend. The slanderous fabrication of rumors and lies needs to stop.
I ask that all shooters, parents, and concerned parties to verify information from both sides as it does no good to blindly take someone's word at face value. This does trapshooting no good to mislead as at some point we may need each other in the future.
James Hammond
California Delegate

James, I am good with that . If any CYSSA parents or coaches would like to have a meeting please contact either myself or James and we will set it up!!
Kym Hughes
kingsburg came to the CYSSA asking us to shoot there we told them what we wanted they said your demanding to much so we took our kids else where
Big Ed
What part of verifying your information have you done. Put some supporting facts to your post. We have done our due dillegance and will ask you one more time for you to do the same. Please by all means sign your name as that is the polite and respectable way to do business.
James Hammond
Ed, Ed, Ed, (sigh). Again rumours such as you are trying to ignite are just tiresome. At no time did Kingsburg tell anyone from the CYSSA anysuch thing.
I am not sure as to what you hope to gain by these false statements. Kingsburg is an aboveboard shooting club. The CGSTA extended an open invitation to ALL youth groups to come and shoot at Kingsburg. ( READ the previous posts PLEASE).
As James has stated we have been open and honest with all posts and corrospondance, we sign our names and leave no doubt as to the TRUE nature of this shoot and your accusations are just not ringing true. Please inform your misinformed contacts that they are incorrect in what they are telling you, or better yet give me the names of those selling you this bill of goods and I will be more than happy to talk to them.
KYM HUGHES
Up for the kids in California!!!!
KIM you contacted the Head coach of livermore's CYSSA team told us what Kingsburg said The CYSSA Board members got together and wanted to go to kindsburg you would of had 600-700 youth shooters but you said "You are demanding to much"
ED ( if that is your real name.It is hard to tell) !!!!!!!!!! I was contacted by a gentleman from Livermore. He wanted to know what it would take to come to shoot at Kingsburg. We told him that a $3.00 daily, and the CYSSA take care of their own trophies. Period. That was all that was required. It was then taken back to the CYSSA board and the CYSSA came back with the DEMAND that they would come shoot at Kingsburg if the SCTP, AIM and any other group got moved to another day. The answer was no. We were not going to move the other kids. The invitaion was for ALL youth.
We received an email from Dave Tanner that said that the CYSSA had made other arrangements and they would be shooting in another venue.
OK.
Not at any time did anyone from the Kingburg Gun Club nor the CGSTA tell anyone from the CYSSA that they were demanding too much. We simply said that ALL groups would shoot on Saturday June 16th, the saturday before the California State Shoot which has been the day for SCTP and AIM to shoot now for about 11 years. ( I know this because I was a coach during this time...FACT!!!!!), if the CYSSA would like to join in then fine, if not, OK...
The Board of directors of the CYSSA chose NOT...
So don't you dare say I contacted anyone , this gentleman contacted me. He did so in the desire for the kids to shoot at the Kingsburg Gun Club. (I have several emails from him, and he has my responses. In fact I know he brought those emails to the BOD meeting..signed by me with contact info, he did so in the hope that the BOD of the CYSSA would see that there was no high demands, a simple $3.00 daily fee... Everything else was included save for the CYSSA providing its own trophies...just like the AIM and the SCTP would do) )... I NEVER once told him that the CYSSA was demanding too much ( although the demand to have Kingsburg all to themselves was a little over the top, not to mention egotistical and arrogant.), after that the rumour mongers started with the stories," that there would be no scorekeepers", "there would be no tram service" " there would be no lunch", "there would be no awards ceremony", "that the CYSSA would have gone to Kingsburg but none of these things were going to be provided"....all ridiculous and false!!! I don't know how you would run a shoot but these are things that have always been in place and will be in place. These items are standard at this shoot, and Kingsburg and the CGSTA has always provided these and many more services at this shoot.
You keep throwing the 600-700 number at me. Congratulations, that is alot of kids shooting. But sometimes numbers are just that, numbers, sometimes it is the loyalty and the integrity that out weigh sheer numbers. I wish that the CYSSA kids could shoot at Kingsburg. It is truly a first class range and the personel and directors have always gone over and above to welcome the kids. Last year the CYSSA board, by deciding to throw their shoot over the established SCTP/AIM date hurt this club. Not us, not the kids, the BOD of the CYSSA.
Good Luck with your shoot this year.

Again you post your assumptions with no supporting facts. If you are speaking from what you believe is first hand information, which means you were part of the discussions, you are absolutely not telling the truth. If you are speaking second, third, or fourth hand, than you are out on a limb with no supporting evidence.
You would think by now that you would have supplied some facts to support your perception and theory.
By all means, step up to the plate and have the nerve to call us so we can supply you with the written correspondence.
By the way since you appear to be the spokesperson for CYSSA please answer the following questions that I asked in the above post.
1) Why did CYSSA choose to throw their tournament on the same day that SCTP had for the last eleven years?
2) Why does CYSSA not want to shoot with other organizations on the same day?
3) How much did it cost to shoot targets last year during the event at Stockton as it was only $20 per hundred at Kingsburg?
4) How many days did CYSSA have to shoot to accomplish the same thing that was done in one day at Kingsburg?

Ed,
The cat is out of the bag..
Up for a great shoot, a great club and a great opportunity for ALL youth shooters in California!
Now I have more decisions to make to keep shooting CYSSA or just focus on ATA and PITA shoots...Hmmmm Its a shame to because of the amount of kids and interest in this sport in todays world of how much other distractions kids have, that there has to be the division. THe kid are the only ones in the end that suffer from things like this. I really cant wrap my head around why the CYSSA has there head up there @$$!
By the way thanks Kym and James for stepping up and laying out the fact!
Thanks Broke!!!!.... Hope that whatever you decide is the best for your junior shooters...

Sounds like a Little League organization gone bad? Again!!! And only the kids suffer. Hey Broketrapdad how many kids on your child's team? I will pay your kids daily CGSTA fees and buy you lunch if you bring your team to Kingsburg.

Gary that is a unbeilievable offer and like your last name maybe Kingsburg week we can certainly sit down and have a beer together we will be there for the week and now possibly for the weekend prior as well. Im not sure yet what we will do I will see what my son wants to do and well make a decision from there. Just the gesture I appreciate very much says a lot about who you are! I look forward to meeting you in Kingsburg no matter what it will be a good time and I really hope these issues get resolved these kids really deserve to have a event that would showcase all of them SCTP,CYSSA,AIM,Etc. Etc. what a stage it could be if all the B.S. was put aside there is no limit at how big that weekend could really be!
BrokeTrapDad, all those above, Kym, James and many more, attempting to straighten out the rumors want nothing more than what's best for all the kids in CA! Great offer Gary Beer, I applaud you!!

Everyone that knows Kym is aware the kind of person she is and what she has done for the kids in Ca. On the other hand very few know or care what BigedAAA has done. Kym, I think u r wasting ur time dealing with the likes of BigedAAA, just keep doing the rite thing and the parents will figure it out. Jeff Cook
Thank you Jeff!!!( There will be a cherry cobbler with your name on it at the state shoot!!! )
I do enjoy the kids shooting!! I truly believe they are critical to this sport. They are our future, they will be the "old guys" of tomorrow bringing in new shooters. Without them we have no future. I love the atmosphere at the Youth State Shoot each year. The excitement and the general good natured competition. I have be fortunate to have coached teams from Rookie to varsity!! I have formed friendships with those that I have coached that remain in place today. Every year those kids looked forward to Kingsburg, as well as their parents. I am proud to say that 70% of the kids that shot SCTP with the club we coached for stayed for the State Shoot. It was like Christmas to them, they could not imagine missing it. That is what all this is about!!!
When misinformation is bandied about it hurts the kids. The invitation is open and the ball is in their court. We are here for the kids and the future of trapshooting!

As a proud parent of a second year CYSSA young man I am VERY disapointed by some of the comments made by a person trying to represent CYSSA if you have something to say, say it otherwise stop making CYSSA look even worse then they already do!!And to you KYM Hughes I applaud you for laying it on the table for everyone to see and thank you for your clear message......THIS IS FOR AND ABOUT THE KIDS!! Over the last month I have been going back and forth, should my son finish in the top 5 in his group (he has a second and a third place finish so far) and attend the CYSSA State Championships or attend the Leo clinic set for that same weekend. Because of this DRAMA my mind is made up we will attend the clinic and be a better competitor next year. Kym, I ask you to please send me info about membership in CGSTA! To all who have and continue to do this for the kids I THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Jeff Meitrott Dixon, Ca.
Jeff, first off , congratulations to your son on his shooting this year! I am sure he will benifit greatly from Mr. Harrison's clinic.
If you are going to be anywhere near Newman Swamp Rats on May 19th I can get you signed up at that time. If not I can put you in touch with a number of Northern Zone Directors . You can also email me at kymhughes@comcast.net for any information at any time!!!

Up for info on the youth state championship shoot
Kym, possibly sending out flyers to all the gun clubs and displayed on their bulletin boards will reach more parents and kids letting them know the facts? You'll reach a few here on TS as evidenced above but I think you could throw more water on a rumored fire (LIE) with fact flyers directly to the clubs themselves? If at all possible?
Hap
Haps, They go out today to all the northern , central and southern gun clubs. Hopefully they will get displayed..:-). This info is also in the 2012 California State Shoot program and on the CGSTA.com website. The SCTP Director sent out a raft of them about amonth ago, we are trying to do it again hopefully with results of just being seen.

Thank you again so much. ( sent KIDFAN an IM also on this matter)

Kym -James Thanks for putting your time in this great sport and putting up with this crazy stuff to better kids and trapshooting.Real Facts always win over stupid rumors any day. I will set the BEST TARGETS i can for the kids. Thanks Jim Kirkley CGSTA Board Member
Kym
This is nothing unusual with the generosity of the CGSTA Members. The Members have donated their personal time and money to support the youth for many, many years. The CGSTA Board Members have also donated hour after hour, to make things a success.
There is absolutely a reason why the CGSTA will be celebrating a huge milestone next year which is a 100 years of commitment and service to the sport we all hold dear to our hearts.
James Hammond

Jimmy!!! I know you and the crew will set the best of the best targets!! You guys always do.. ( ps I will make you and the crew your own cherry cobbler too!! )
James,
It is no surprise to me that a member generously offered this. Each year our membership supports the youth shooters and ask no thanks in public. To them I always write a small handwritten note ( my grandma is smiling I just know it!!), to thank them and they tell me this means more than shouting the deed to the heavens. Class acts all!!!
I just got another offer from a CGSTA member. This member has offered up money to cover the first 50 shooters' daily fees from the north.
This will be first come , first served based. If any parent or coach is interested they can IM me
Again this showcases the fact that the CGSTA is eager for youth shooters to enjoy the sport of trapshooting!!!!
Kym
TTT
This is incredible, how awesome, and its not the money aspect of it, its just plain principal! You guys are making my decision easier and easier to forgo the CYSSA State Shoot and start my week in Kingsburg a little earlier. Again not because of the donations its just these are the type of people I want to be associated with and show my kids this is what it is all about "in Life". These are the poeple I want to sit down with spend my time with. And honestly my kid really doesnt care where he shoots, he is oblivious to all this nonsense all he knows is a taget comes out of that house and he shoots it, he can care-less about all the drama and B.S., and frankly thats the way I want to keep it!
I do have a question on the membership if your a ATA member is that seperate from the CGSTA?
Broke,
ATA membership is the "national body"... Junior $12.00 per year. This is renewable September thru August each year( one time only). You will receive a hard plastic membership card and a paper average card. Each time you go to an ATA registered shoot you will present both cards to the classifier. You will be placed in singles and doubles classes according to your average on your paper card where you keep track of your scores from other shoots . You will be handicapped by your current yardage. Juniors, sub juniors and women start at 19 yards and Men start at 20 yards. You will move back towards the 27 yd line each time you " earn" yardage by either being the handicap champion of the event with the high score or by automatic punches of 96,97,98,99,& 100.
Your state dues are the CGSTA dues and those are renewable each year also. The first registered shoot that you attend in California ( sept -aug) you will be charged for your state dues. You will receive a sticker to affix to the back of your hard plastic card from the ATA and this serves as your receipt for state dues.
Hope this helps explain some of the process.

I wish CYSSS and SCTP would host there State Shoots on different dates so youth shooters could shoot both if they wanted to
Buddy,
This has been stated a few times but once more for clarification. The SCTP has had the Saturday before the California State Shoot now for 11 years . Last year the CYSSA decided to throw their shoot over the SCTP date. They could have chosen another day . This year is no different. They again chose the same day. They have been invited to come and join the other organizations for a day of shooting
Their BOD said no.
End of story
I wish they would come shoot at Kingsburg too. The KIDS really like that club and last I looked this was a kids shooting organization. Go figure.
Kym
It's too bad they didn't ask the kids what they wanted to do?
Hap
My thoughts exactly!!!!
Buddy,
I think some forget what the shoot calendar looks like in June. The Saturday has been Youth Championship day for the past eleven or so years. Because of the hard work of the California Shooters who support the CGSTA and Kingsburg the youth program began.
One of the reasons the shoot was and will always be scheduled on the Saturday before state shoot is because it kicks of the Pre state shoot on Sunday and Monday and then is followed by the State Shoot from Tuesday through Sunday.
If you look at the weekends prior to the State Shoot week there are no other days available for the CGSTA. CYSSA, under the direction of Miller and Tanner knew this date was set in stone prior to them forming the CYSSA. It is very unfortunate a program such as CYSSA is not for the youth throughout the State of California.
There is no chance we will throw even one kid to the curb and sacrifice our morales. I can't believe any organization, shooter, or parent that is for youth shooting would even suggest that we do that.
There is absolutely no reason CYSSA should be throwing on top of a shooting date that has been established for this long. One should wonder what the true motive was when CYSSA chose the same date.
This is absolutely not fair to the youth and there parents to be asked to chose between one or the other. There is No reason why all youth organizations can't coexist by shooting together or on separate days.
We have not built a better youth program in California and won't until egos and personal agendas are checked at the door.

The CGSTA, along with Kingsburg Gun Club, invites and welcomes all youth shooters to participate in the 2012 California Youth State Shoot. The Shoot is open to all youth based organizations and will take place on June 16th 2012 at the beautiful Kingsburg Gun Club.
All Youth can shoot for $22.00 per 100 targets. Rookie divisions will be shooting 100 singles targets and all others will be shooting 200 singles targets. Each organization will offer their own trophies for the day.( SCTP, AIM, 4-H, PITA, CYSSA are included and encouraged!!!!!) A $3.00 CGSTA Daily fee will also be charged.
Shooting will begin at 9:30 am on June 16th. It is recommended that all shooters presquad with CGSTA Secretary at above email address.
There should be plenty of space availible to camp on the East end of the Kingsburg Gun Club at reasonable rates. If camping is not your style there are plenty of motels/hotles in the Kingsburg/Selma/Visalia area. Lunch on Saturday will also be availible on the grounds. There will be practice availible starting Friday June 19th at noon. Many vendors will be there for the shooters and as always the quailty scorekeeping and shoot management will be on hand to insure that the youth shooters of California have the best shooting experience possible. All trap banks have Pat-Trap machines and Canterbury Voice Release systems.
This is a highly anticipated shoot and we look forward to seeing all of you at the shoot.
If anyone has any questions or would like to pre-squad please contact the CGSTA State Secretary at kymhughes@comcast.net.

Up for the kids in California and a great shoot....
Up... again Numbers...
This is true, all BS!!! WE never turned the kids away, Kingsburg NEVER told you that your group demanded too much, ect, ect. All the BS has come from the CYSSA side of the thread. I posted all factual information and I stress again. This shoot is for the KIDS. hence the name the California Youth State Shoot. Youth, all Youth.
200 targets ( rookies/ pre sub 100) Singles, $22.00 per 100 + a $3.00 daily fee for a total of 47.00. ( rookies/ pre-subs 25.00). All the amenities that go along with a traphoot ( food, scorekeepers, loaders, good times, trams, fun, vendors, fun and did I mention fun?!!???!!!) Shot in one day at a beautiful range with camping availible and motels, for those not into camping, nearby.
No hidden agendas, no egos, just there for the kids.

Mr. Miller
Yes it would very hard and difficult for you, Gail, to address the above facts. I am sure we all can agree on that statement. So the next best thing is to call it BS. Your insinuation that we have misrepresented the facts is absurd. I find it ironic that all you have to add is how successful you have been with CYSSA.
So there are no denials that you and a few board members made a decision that did not include the truth. You misrepresented the details to the coaches, parents and youth of CYSSA.
You should answer the above questions though so we all have a better understanding.
1) Why did you choose to throw your event on top of an event that has been scheduled for the same Saturday for the past eleven plus years?
2) Why did you not want the parents and youth to know about the standing invitation to attend Youth Shooting Day at Kingsburg where all organizations were invited?
3) Why did you request that we move SCTP and AIM to a different day to accommodate CYSSA only.
4) Why are the parents spending extra money on targets and lodging at Stockton? We have always charged $20 or less until this year and that is $22. The shoot has always been one day as we can accommodate all youth.
5) Where did the statement come form that us, CGSTA/ATA, were getting rich from the youth? Us at $45 compared CYSSA at $57 makes you wonder.
Again as I stated above egos need to be put aside as it hurts any attempts to have a better youth program in California or across this Country.
I will be sending you a personal email shortly.
James Hammond
California Delegate
Mr. Miller you're right you shouldn't have posted, but you decided to join in on the discussion. Now that you have been challenged to answer questions regarding this entire debacle you choose to play the "Look at me, look what I have done and I am so much better than you" and then with disrespect you disregard Mr. Hammonds intentions to send you an email.
Bravo, Mr. Miller, Bravo you sure showed us.
Bryan
The junior shooters of California have always been included for as long as anyone could care to remember. There for a long time there was an age group that was essentially missing in the shooting sports world( I say shooting sports because this encompasses more than just trap), in an effort to generate some interest in the shotgun sports world and encourage youth shooting again the NSSF began the SCTP program with the hopes of infusing the ATA, NSSA and The SCA with some new young blood. California enjoyed the benefits of this program , which by turn the SCTP trap discipline enjoyed the rewards of more youth shooting. THIS was the successful youth organization , this is where the base started from. This is the foundation that a few have taken and now call their own.
The CGSTA and the ATA embraced the youth shooters and still do. Again I will state, we are here for the KIDS, not someone's ego about how many numbers we can throw up. Our hope and goal is that after the kids get out of high school and are on their own and are looking for a HOBBY sport that the experience they had as junior shooters will persuade them to continue shooting as adults. We don't just drop them in search of the next batch of incoming kids. This was the goal of the original SCTP organization from the beginning. To provide a foundation which will lead to a lifetime of interest. Not just for their youth years but for their life. Which is vital to the shooting sport world.
Kym
Up
Up again
Mr. Miller
Again I thought you might stick with the facts and answer the questions that I asked. No answers is glaring to everyone and is well noted. I like the statement about "We" have a successful California Youth Program. I will not argue the point that yes there is a bunch of people who have contributed to the Northern Shooting Program referred to as CYSSA. To have a completely successful program for California you have to include the entire State. You must also remember that building a successful program requires everyone from, shooters, coaches, parents, along with organizations such as NRA, ATA, NSSF, CGSTA, and SCTP. We should also not forget the great vendors, gun clubs and benefactors that support youth shooting across the country. Anything can be started and built but to build something that is great you also need to have ethical values.
One thing that I learned in my position I have to put personal opinions and agendas aside. I will talk to my shooters and provide them the information that they deserve. I will then base my decisions and voting on what the majority believe we should do in California. This is not "My" organization but is the shooters organization. This organization was established and built long before you and I were ever born.
I guess I won't waste my time writing an email to you.
James Hammond

I'm a new coach in the Idaho SCTP and was curious.
Thank you,

Jennifer, private message sent.
Yes this is the California resident Junior. Championships for the AIM and SCTP shooters.
However begining on June 19 the CGSTA State Shoot starts and there are trophies offered to out of state shooters in all events.

Thanks Kym, I was just curious. Most likely I wouldn't have been able to take a team down there, but I'm new to the SCTP and figured I'd ask.
Kingsburg is a spectacular (if a little toasty) place to shoot, I miss it!
Take care and have a great shoot!

Gary, Meeting went ok. Not alot of CYSSA parents. But I think the word is getting around that the CGSTA is not a kid hating oger here. Lolol
We are here for the future of the sport and our future is kids today. The whole goal of he CA Aim and SCTP program is to introduce kids to the sport of competition trapshooting. With this introduction it is hoped that the junior shooters of today become the main body of shooters in years to come. That they in turn will introduce a youngster to the sport of trapshooting in the years to come. That is how sports survive.
Come join us for a great day of youth shooting at the beautiful Kingsburg Gun Club!!!
