I`m guessing ser# range 400-401 thousand. Early 5E`s had silver inlays.

Engraved birds were typically gold, sometimes (somewhat rare from what I understand) done in silver.

The wood is unusual for that gun. I've not seen an original one with a Monte Carlo stock, and the shape and checkering on the foreend are not typical.

However, given these guns were pretty much all custom order, I guess anything is possible. Any indication the wood is original? WOuld be interesting to know.

Also -- what is the serial number?
