Weatherby.

Is this a 300 H & H re-chambered to 300 Weatherby?

It is a 300H&H that was rechambered to 300WBY by David Miller Co. the renowed maker of Custom pre-64 Model 70's.

Took the liberty Rick of adding some light to your photos. Looks like the perfect across the canyon rifle.

Having had both calibers, I agree that a classic firearm in a truly classic caliber has been greatly reduced in value and lost as a collectible.

I will never own another Weatherby caliber. I am looking hard at the Ruger #1 in 300 H&H.

To each his own! In my estimation he may have disturbed collectors but he created what he (or the previous owner) wanted..I have the same model conversion setting in my safe and it is perfect for that long range shooting. My rifle was from an old friend that could no longer hunt & I appreciate it more each time I use it. Not everyone is a collector..

I understand full well that the re-chambering to the WBY cal. decreases the value of the gun. I bought this gun over 30 years ago and the re-chamber job had been done by the previous owner.I was very familar with the great characteristics of Wby. cal's and thought it made a great combination in this gun. I used it on an Alaskan big game hunt and it is a great flat shooting gun with that WBY cal. I took a Dall sheep with it at 400 yards. It would make someone a great gun for shooting any of the large North American Game. Thanks Rick

Is my recollection correct?? Original 300 H&H rifles, Winchester put cross bolts in the stock to prevent cracking.

There were no cross bolts that I know of. I have another 300 H&H that is all orginal and it does not have any crossbolts.
