Has anyone chronographed a load similar to this?
Federal paper, 12SO wad, 17.5 Reddot, 1 oz shot, Winchester primer. I'd like to know the approximate velocity.
Thanks
1120 by my chrono, I shoot mostly Fed papers. My one ounce loads are heavier than that. I use 21.7 grns and fed 309 primers and it is about 1300 + -
I agree with cc2k. 1100± range.
I used to load a very similar round, FP, 12S0, medium-strength primer albeit with 17.5gn of Bullseye and it clocked in the low-11s; with a F209A, it was 1140-ish.
But what a soft, smooth target-muncher it was.
Bob
I hsave never had good luck with the 12so in papers. Just too big. Jeff
Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
CC2000, have you loaded this combination for approximately 1150 fps? Would 18 gr RD be close?
SX Jeff, when you say too big, do you mean length or diameter. What wad do you like for paper.
Thanks again.
I use SO only for 7/8 in paper. The S-3 for 1 oz & S-4 for 1 1/8. I always use a Fed 209 or A primer & about 20-21 PB. Love 17.5 Bullseye fot 7/8.
