The three replys to my previous thread about a cracked K-80 Lightweight receiver were all correct. Even though the gun is almost 30 years old, Krieghoff has offered a free Lightweight replacement receiver. They also offered the option of a deeply discounted steel replacement. Hard to beat this kind of service. Ron Renouf

I have a K-80. It is the only gun I shoot. I also have a small crack in my head-- can Dieter help me? Is there any warranty on my head?

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether I should go for the steel receiver? It would cost about $1,500. Ron
Similar experience,I had a virtually new K-80 Plantation blow on me.No one hurt but Dieter was on the phone instantly and had a new one with custon fit exhibition wood enroute in a matter of days.
Makes me think I better write to Remington about my 37 year old TB tha developed a crack last spring. Do you send a picture, start by writing, or what?

More to it than meets the eye on gun blow ups.
The real question is why do so many of them seem to blow up? Is it all urban myth? Has one ever blown up with a factory load? Sometimes I think it's all BS but some of the people who talk about them exploding seem pretty sincere.Jeff
O boy, here we go again, a gun blows up and instantly it's a pile. Sometimes I wonder if people are on here just to see what gun blows up so they can bad mouth the shit out of it. I think they need to have a separate forum just for the blow up cops. Then they all can yank each others chain. If the gun happens to be the kind they own then they can tell everyone it's great and it's not the reloads fault.

2-2-2, How do you expect people to respond? Move away from the computer and quietly go about their day, ignoring what they just read? I'm in the market for a doubles gun, so I'm noting the event. And then you have the brand loyalists. There are lots of great features about these guns. Folks shoot them extremely well. Some shooters identify their performance with the brand. Isn't that inevitable? Maybe there is a fault in the construction and maybe a reload exposes it. Maybe they've fixed the problem. I don't know, call Dieter.
In the end, I'm hoping a little more info about bbl limits makes it out. Why is that info so tightly held? I'm feeling frustration there myself.
Love the picture with the guy in the ditch. Is that really Pat Ireland?
Hang in there. I do know one thing, the picture of the K80 Trap Special looks like it's all business. The lines are just beautiful. I want one.

Go with the standard weight receiver and you will get what you paid extra and then some when you sell it.
In just eight days, including a holiday, a beautiful replacement Krieghoff receiver has arrived. It is much more attractive than any Lightweight I have ever seen before. Service doesn't get any better than this. Ron Renouf
