Who's here from Maywood Sportsmans Club?
Best Bunch of Guys and Great Facility!
Absolutely, and what's amazing is that the club has remained at the same location all these year. It would be nice, however, if they were open more.
I shot the Northern Zone shoot there this year and games a few years back.
I've been a shooting member for the past thrity years. Nice ppeople and a nice facility.
I was a member there for many years, great club and a good bunch of guys for sure ... The Weds night games used to be the highlight on the week for many, shooters would come from all over to shoot them and we all had a good time ... Not sure how many of the really old timers (Fred Vincenti, LeRoy Gallas,Gus Maris, Ray Rausch to name a few) are still hanging around but loved to hear them tell storys ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Bill: I saw Ray and Mario Garritano a couple months ago. You should see the place 10:00 on Sunday morning. Every trap is going. Looks like the old days.
That does not surprise me, I hear they shoot games on Sunday morning now also like we used to do on Weds evening ..? Thats probably one of the few things (places) I miss about not living in Illinois anymore ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Maywood is a great club. I have been a shooting member for a few years, and I always have a good time there. The trap chairman (John K.) is one of the hardest working gentlemen I have ever seen, he is always there taking care of business. The other officers there are always great to deal with. We are lucky to have a club like this.
Rodbuster
Yes on the Sunday Annies...Noon to 2:30pm...Great Time! Plenty of shooting time now with cooler temperatures and Summer Leagues over. Facility is very well maintained. Great events and Good Food. Looking forward to the Turkey/Ham Shoot!
Yah-ah. Even I have shot there.
I shot there in the early 80's. The Suburban Industrial league. I shot with Electro-Motive Division of General Motors Corp.
Fred Vincenti got me in the club, he passed away a long time ago. Ray Raush is still there was President last year???
If you want to shoot Annies at Maywood, bring plenty of dollar bills. THOSE GUYS ARE GOOD !!!
Sunday is going to be gorgeous...looking forward to it!!!
Great Club - shoot there every Wednesday almost all year long.
Amazing how $1.00 forces your focus!!!
For those of you who are planning on coming out on Sunday, September 8th, we wanted to let you know our cooks will not be at the club. so plan on getting breakfast before you come out.
John Semprini
What about those of us who are planning on coming out on Sunday, November 8th? If Bill and company will not be there to cook, how about maybe Ed S.? He makes a mean Jambalya!
Thank you, Rodbuster
do you have to be a member to shoot there?
You could become a shooting member ,.. Its best to come out to the club see whats it all about and join up in Jan. We enjoy new guys to shoot with us. Been there myself about 30 yrs ... We shoot 5stand s/c trap singles and doubles and my favorite THE GAMES !! Come on out meet the guys. Chuck
Hey John...how many DONUTS do we need??? How about Coffee???
We'll have the coffee pot perking. You can bring as many donuts as you can carry.
John S
What a GLORIOUS DAY!!!
Sunshine...70 degrees & light wind in November in ChiTown!!!!
Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday than with friends at the Maywood Sportsmans Club.
to all you BEARS FANS...you don't know what you missed...
It was a great day to shoot today at Maywood. I don't know if we'll get any more days like we had today, for the rest of the year.
If you were shooting from noon to 3 pm, you had fun. If you were doing anything else you weren't.
Might I suggest a TS. com squad for practice some time ?
Great Idea...let's do it!!!
We need to pick a date far enough in the future to have everyone make plans but not so far that we forget
Sounds good to me, would you want to make it on a Wed night or sometime On Sun? We could make arrangements to rent a field (or two), and shoot at our leisure. I bet that we could make some kind of arrangements for food also.
Just a correction, Rotten Ray has been our treasurer for over 30 years.
If you guys give me enought time, I MIGHT make a batch of Jambalaya. I don't want to cut into the sales of our cooks because they are great, so, if we do this in the afternoon I will make the Jambalaya.
ED
usually have food available, the cook had a baby last week, took some time off
whatever you guys come up with...count me in...
ps: how many of you are going to attend the Cabelas Club After Hours Party on Sunday, November 22, 2009 7:30 to 10:30pm Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Employee discount pricing on all Club Visa purchases Complimentary food and beverage and I received a couple $10.00 coupons in the mail too!
Elliot McDaniels is the Gun Library Manager. He and John are great guys to deal with. Bill will be there too, he's a member a Maywood and often has a table at the club swap meets.
A Wednesday night works best for me but that's just one vote let's see who else has a day or date in mind. What about the first Wednesay night after Thanksgiving???
If you guys get together at Maywood, can you invite a lowly Naperville guy out to join you... we talk, but I'd like to put faces to the handles...
If its after Turkey Day, can I come as someone's guest?! pleeeease.... I'll bring some store incentives from Orvis... I promise not to embarrass myself or you! (lol)
regards,
Jay Spitz
Jay, you have an open invitation as my guest. Just let me know when you want to come out. When the ts.com squad comes out, it will be my pleasure to buy the first round of coffee........
John Semprini
What !!! John's buying ???? I may have to clear out the cobwebs and get out the 90-T.
I'm in... if its a Sunday, I'm calling in sick (lol)!
Thanks John,
Jay
Can I get in on this? Former shooting member from the 70's.
I have shot with Jay Spitz before at Naperville SC. It would be a pleasure to shoot with a gentleman of his caliber at Maywood. Also, I never knew that you had a 90-T Ed. You are even more of a high roller than I had previously thought!
Jay, shooting members are not allowed to bring guest but as of earleir this year you can with a FOI card get a day pass to shoot. For my vote would be great to meet you and if I had the ability to invite a guest you would certainly be welcomed.
Jay come on out...Either John (JP) or I can sign you up to shoot....
The only Sundays bad for me is Deer Sesason, Nov.22 and Dec. 6th.
ED
Bruce. Did you mean that? About shooting members not allowed to bring a guest? That seems odd. And what about a guy like me that travels thru the burbs passing thru the area (avoiding Chicago with a gun in car) and I stop bu t do not have my Wisconsion FOID card... So I am SOL?
Jack
There was an issue of some shooting members bringing a group of novices and letting them loose with no supervision. Guns pointed at the crowd, loaded guns moving on the line, etc.. IF a shooting member wants to bring a guest, we want them to ask at the counter so that we can make sure that no unsafe activity takes place. We can also at the same time offer a little coaching. Most guys behind the trap counter will sign up a shooting members' guest to shoot .
Ed (Marco Polo) is correct. Maywood is a private club but has never turned away any shooter who wants to shoot a round or two of trap. We have set up a system where a full member sponsors a guest to shoot for the day for a small fee. If any shooting member brings a guest, we will of course attempt to accomodate the guest. The reason behind all this is safety. It's the board's desire to provide the safest enviornment for everyone enjoy shooting.
If any shooting member brings a guest he or she will be welcome. Especially if they would like to partake in the games. Then allot of shells and plenty of dollar bills........
John Semprini
MIA .... With you knowing T.P.S. Should not be a problem at all ...I think he'd sign you up anytime you pass thru our fine town . and if he's not around look me up I'll get someone to help you out . Chuck
I've been shooting at MSC for 50 years. Dad and I were members, but I hadn't been back there in years. When I visited the club again this past summer, I was treated like ROYALTY. The club is every bit as clean, warm and welcome as it was years ago. The members are gracious, helpful and accomodating. It's a great club with class and tradition and I'm looking forward to full membership next year.
I appreciate and respect the safety precautions the club has adopted. All members abide by the rules. It makes the environment much safer and insures that a good time doesn't turn into a tragedy. This club personifies good, clean, wholesome entertainment and it is exceptionally well managed.
Jack, For many years I was unable to have a guest shoot, in order to do that you had to be a full member (invite a guest). The rules have changed and like many other clubs you can get a day /visitor privilage to shoot. I've seen them ask for a FOI card I don't know the rules for some one that lives in another state. Don't misunderstand I have nothing but good to say about Maywood as stated I've been a member(shooting) for over thirty years.
So do we have a date for the fun shoot?
I am pretty much open whenever Bruce. I am planning on shooting there tonight, I wonder what will be on the menu?
I thought it was B.Y.O. tonight???
Just talked to John K. The cooks are there and the kitchen is open. I think they have chicken sandwiches, plus their normal menu tonight.
Anyone else in for the Wednesday night after Thansgiving? Look like three of us so far.
Are we going to do this shoot on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving? It's like the post just dried up?
The Wednesday after Thanksgiving (Dec. 2) is Illinois second deer firearm season and some people will be out of town.
Hey Bruce...what do you have in mind?
Dec 2 is fine with me, do we want to rent a field or...? Did I hear someone say something about Ed's home made jambalaya?
I'm going deer hunting on Thursday Evening so Wednesday night is good with me just set our selves up to squad together?
I LUV shoot'n Annies at the MAYWOOD SPORTSMAN CLUB
Bruce and MIA: When I was there a couple months ago I only needed to show my out of state drivers license, and I could shoot there. You can't get an Illinois FOI card without an Illinois drivers license.
I knew that, but didn't know what they would ask from a non-resident as far as inviting them to shoot at the club.
Isn't there a club meeting on Dec 2 ???
Meeting is the first Tuesday of the month. DEc. 1
