I am very curious how there automated equipment loads mass quantities of shells? I have looked/googled and even checked the back schedule of "how its made" and have nothing on this. Can anyone link me to some factory pics or information? I have even checked there sites for factory pics and nothing there on there process. Have some of you guys toured there factories? or at least before they moved overseas.

I recall seeing a segment on ammunition manufacturing at a Federal Ammunition plant, but can't recall where I saw it. Bill Malcolm

Saw This on The Federal website the other day. It shows a bit of what you may be after.

Visited Winchester years ago - They were loading 600 AA's per minute, and would not allow visitors.

Could have been safety or corporate secrets that prevented a peek.

Thanks for the link...that is closest I have seen. I just am really curious how the process works on loading and crimping. Wonder if they use a press like we do but on a larger scale? Just would be fun to see, Even that link just says"heres the station that puts the wad shot and crimps" then its just a blurr of sheel flying by.

Remington used to make a 16mm movies available to clubs. One was about making guns, called "One at a Time". They had one about making ammo too, but I can't remember the name. You'd call their PR folks to get them.

They had them about duck hunting, skeet, and trap as well.

They'd be pretty old now even if they were still available, but I heard the skeet and trap films were available as videos a few years ago.

Here's a link to one of the videos from the site I referenced above. It is the same company that makes the machine in bigk's post.

is this the new Mec loader. Looks like it beats a spolar and pw together. Can't wait to receive mine. Placed the order today. Any of you people want to get in with me. We can shoot a whole bunch and have a great time. I wonder how that guy gets his wife to pull the handle that fast. Great video and I always wondered how they did that. motordoc

Fascinating video! Something tells me that this set-up might possibly cost even more than a Spolar! ;>) .....Rick

Back to the top for the George Mason University Trap and Skeet Team.

If any of you GM shooters see this post, let me know and I will stop bringing it back to the top.

Thanks for posting the video link. It was very interesting watching the Italian machine pumping out the shells.

Just think if they have a goof like we do every once and a while. What a mess!

Way cool! I am surprised that they don't use a larger rotary system instead of a shuttle - it would seem at first blush to be more efficient - like bottling plants.

Nice video, but the larger manufacturers use a much larger and faster machine made in Germany.

If you ever are passing through Grand Island NE stop at Hornady Mfg. They will give you a great tour of their bullet and ammo factory from start to finish. Very interesting.
