Thank you very much. Readers, this person seems a very caring and generous person. IT'S FOR THE KIDS! Any donations of trophies are appreciated. I have had a "Tractor Puller" donate trophies. All are accepted for the kids. My club budget only stretches so far. I'm working on "next year", so there's plenty of time. Please just remember the heading of the thread.

Where are all the people who complained that they got crappy trophies? If they didn't like the trophies they got, the least that they can do is donate them to the kids. C'mon...

tanda1, my problem is that the club hasn't given me a budget for shipping cost. I wouldn't know when or if I'll be able to pay it. My address is Larry Rowland, 1604 Reid Ave., Xenia Ohio 45385. Your offer is very generous also. If you live anywhere near the Dayton, Ohio area, I can pick them up. Thank you.

Larry, till Devi and I get some to you, look locally and contact bowling alleys. They are a very good source. Also check with businesses selling trophies as they sometimes have seconds that won't sell.

I appreciate all the interest everyone has shown for donating Youth Activity trophies, and the added suggestions. I'm getting fliers to a few local ranges. As suggested, any standing trophy can be recycled. I've contacted suppliers about seconds, and was told they didn't do that because they want to sell first grade trophies. Thank you Robb, I'm picking up trophies he's donated locally.

Larry, I have several trophies that I would like to donate to you, I can bring them over to the gun club. Most of the trophies have high lady on them or on the tags, which will need to be replaced. Are you going to be over at the Greene County club this Sunday? if not I can leave them with Justin.

You can e-mail me regarding these at DFoster258@aol.com

BIGDON and Diane, Wow, very generous. Don, I surely can pick up trophies in Beavercreek. As I said, any trophy can be recycled for the kids. I just get new tops and plates for those of other sports. I graduated from Beavercreek in '66, my wife in '68. Diane, those trophies are perfect. I'll be at the club Sunday for sure. I'll get new plates as, and if needed. Several of my best shots are the young girls. High average over the season is a girl.

Remember that I'm asking you to do this for the kids. In one season of shooting alone, I'll use 39 trophies for one sport (now have 3 sports going, with side matches in others). ANY trophy lights up the eyes of these kids. They are the future of all the outdoor sports we love. Without getting them enthused about the sports, I fear many skills will be lost. If you are local, I'm listed in the ph. book.

Larry -

Are you only interested in "man on a stick" type trophies, or could you use things like wooden ducks, etc? I'm not a hunter but have a small collection of hunter-appropriate trophies that I won at trapshoots that my wife won't even let sit out. I can send them if you can us them.

Scott, I can surely make any type trophy work for the kids. How excited they would be to have such nice things to display! My address is displayed a couple times above. Devi is even sending Cigar boxes that will be made into fine treasure keeping trophy boxes for the kids. Fresh ideas like yours are very appreciated. Devi mentioned also, that I could be at Marengo, Ohio at least once a year to collect trophies that shooters donate. Sorry, the trip to the Grand is just too much for me these days.

Larry, If you are not in too much of a hurry for them, I probably have 30 or more of the trophies with the shotgun dude on top. They are at my parents place in MI and I'm in IL. I'll have a chance to pick them up in a month or two. I'll pull the inscribed plate off if that's cool w/ you.

Can ship half of them to you(got a pm from someone else looking for kids trophies...I'll send him the other half) Shipping is on me.

Put them to good use.

Thanks so much Ted. I have all winter now to collect about 90+ trophies. I know that's a lot of trophies, but I have several Youth activities already scheduled for the kid's summer. I do have a few more activities I plan for yet this year that need trophies also. The big one will be the "Ladies and Children Trap Shoot." It's meant to introduce trap to those that run the households. LOL! As stated earlier, I think I need to collect trophies year round, each year, to keep the interest going with the kids. BY THE WAY, my planned activities aren't just for the youth of the Greene County Fish and Game. They are public events for all youth that can come.

Local donations are coming in for the kids trophies. I picked up 3 the other day, and 16 at the club today. Sunday I'm to be at the club about noon, to pick up more.

My real surprize is the support for youth that I'm getting from afar. These people niether know me nor my club, but have freely offered wonderful trophies for the kids. Thank you all so much! Rember sportsmen and women need to "pass it forward" for the kids.

Ladies and gentlemen, I know that though many of you don't have room to display your trophies, you just hate to get rid of them. Getting any trophy is a great accomplishment you should be proud of. Why not take those plates from the trophies and either make or have made a display plaque. That way you'd have your proud memories displayed. Also, this way you can allow a child to feel the same pride you feel, by winning a trophy. It's for the Kids.

Thank you very, very much Barb. Every trophy counts. I watched the faces of the class winners as they got their trophies, others as they got ribbons. What a wonderful time for them. I want to give all trophies from now on. But you know, I always asked every kid after competitions if they had fun. Not one child hesitated giving out a smile and a yes. Keep 'em coming guys. It's for the kids!

Today, the kids of the club received some very fine gifts from BIGDON. Not only did he bring trophies to be rebuilt, but he brought some very special figurines, certificate plaques, and trophy plaques he's won. Thank you BIGDON! I'm glad I've met yet another one of the special people in the trap shooting world. I also thank those that are planning to send trophies and other items for the kids.

Thanks a bunch Foggy. As I always say, "IT'S FOR THE KIDS." I'm not ashamed to be asking (begging) for things that help get them enthused for outdoor sports. Thanks to everyone that wants to or are sending items. Locally, the responce has been very great. Foggy, Recurvyarcher, and others may just be starting another trend, from across all the rivers. The local delivery people seem to love coming to the door. ALL prizes for the kids will be greatfully accepted.

Joe, trapshooting in the Dayton area took a definate slump, but interest is quickly rebuilding. The people at Meringo (Ohio State's shooting grounds) are doing such a good job at holding enough large shoots, that people are again practicing and registering targets here. It's a great facility.

Ray, I wish I knew a solution. Perhaps someone plans a trip this way, and can connect the dots. If they e-mailed me, I'd give them a number to call when they got close, and I'd "trap" them near the highway! Even if things don't get worked out, thank you at least for the thought.

I got some super trophies from Peter J. today. They were the old ceramic type steins, with shooters on top. They had been "personalized" to events and clubs, but I soon figured that was easily taken care of. These are tall, and definately first place trophies for my shooters. Couldn't use the one that had been cracked some time ago, but the parts from it made a baseball trophy into a very nice trapshooter's trophy.

Some are to the stage they will be used as parts to fix up other trophies. I am greatful to have gotten them before they were thrown away. I got that lead from someone on "Freecycle."

Thank you, I'll try to get creative and get them used. t-bar, I'll watch the mail. Thank you for what ever you sent for the kids. willray, those trophy parts will sure come in handy to build trophies for the kids. I'm getting pretty good at taking apart 35 to 40 year old dance, padgent, and chearleading trophies to make some fine outdoor sports ones for the kids.

I got an offer for trophy tags today. Most of you might not know just how many I will be using for just one season of sports for the kids. LOTS! WOW, what generosity. When they come I'll want to give a huge thanks in the manner that will be due. Watch for this to come together.

THANKS AGAIN FOR HELPING THE KIDS !!

The lot of dance and padgent trophies have been gone through. Thought I'd never get done separating the usable from those that over the 40 years, got too far gone. Lots of servicable trophies that just need tags and tops. Many more parts salvaged. It's work, but when I'm done, I bet I see a lot of smile from the kids!

Thank you very much Carl. The trophies go to the kids. Those that sent or are sending the special items as trophies, rest assured they are to be dedicated to the Youth Program. Being both a Directer and the Youth Chairman gives me a satisfaction of service to the club. This year with the Youth has been just great, seeing their enthusiasm grow for the outdoor sports.

I got my computer back this afternoon. I've been designing and printing certificates to fit many of the certificate plaques you fine shooters are sharing with the kids. Thank you again. Please guys, keep the great trophies coming. I have large outdoor sports programs that I hope to run for years. Your donations help me to keep the kids coming.

Devi,(recurvyarcher), sent a very beautiful little "Ship's Clock" type trophy today. Thank you very much Devi. Folks, along with the conventional type trophies, plaques and other trophy items are so very welcome for the kids. My only regret is that I have no funds to offer up for shipping. I'm sure that if I could, many more could see fit to donate to the kids. Thanks be to the Powers That Be, for those that are sending things.

I'll be using the first of the donated trophies on October 17th. A LADY and KIDS SHOOT will be held on that day, at the Greene County Fish and Game. Our club is near Xenia, Ohio. Loaner Youth guns and ammo can be used also. I made up certificates for the WINNER and RUNNER-UP in each catagory (LADY, and three age groups of kids).

Thank you ALL so very much. Please keep the things coming for the kids.

No new donations after the very fine things Carl Chadwell brought from Columbus, Ohio. These items will thrill the kids that will be winning them. I hope there isn't a big "let-down" after the next season. I am getting some plaques I can use, normal shooting trophies, and all the special items given by the larger shoots too. This is great. The list is being very generous.

I was trying to clear some other things I'd sent to other threads, and deleated what this thread is all about.

I am a Directer and The newest Youth Chairman at the Greene County Fish & Game. About the only activities we've had in the near past have been our very well run Kids fishing derbies, held by Lakes Chairman, Terry Cope. Other than bird box building and pizza parties, nothing else had been planned. The clubs budget for Youth Events has been historically low.

I started this year with several shooting competitions of different types, field archery, and casting competitions. Also had a camp fire/ camp-out for the youth of all ages.

Next season I want every youth that places in events to get a trophy. Their faces shined even at the second and third place ribbons. I'm accepting donations I can pick up, or get brought to me, or get sent by the great folks that want to pass it on to the Youth. My address is Larry Rowland, 1604 Reid Ave., Xenia, Oh 45385

Those that have generously said they would send items, but haven't, please eventually follow through for the kids. I can use anything that can be given the kids. All donations of items will make a huge differance. Many have sent things, and some plan to send more. It's the ones that have stated they are sending, but haven't contacted me yet that I worry about. I will be using at least 109 items a year.

I have PM'd Terry about this offer of very personal trophies. I'd like to let everyone know that things I can't change if it needs it, would not be very usable. I can change plates, some light engraving, wood working, and a few other things. A trophy of any type that has been heavily engraved for a specific club or named event is much harder to use as is. That's not to say I couldn't use some of them in a creative manner. I'm a creature that makes things do, when needed. Thank you.

I know that most of the list just can't send any items for various reasons. I couldn't help with a request like this because I was never a trophy winner, of any kind. Many have old plaques, or even left over trophies from their children's activities. These would help with my kid's activities. Relatives may have something along this line; please drop them an e-mail to see if they would like to donate the items. Thanks for the kids.

The black plaques can be used with only a new plate, as probably the others can. I may make a down sized certificate plaque with a couple. The other things will be used as is, with plates. The chalices will get a plate and be pretty special rewards. Thank you very much. The kids will know every donor as a hero.

I'd like to thank Mr. Edward Fish for his donations. You sent some really super plaques, and some of the nicest "man" trophies I've seen. You'll be another hero to the kids.

Folks, this gentleman sent these items to use for the kids, after enjoying them for years himself. Being in the process of down-sizing his personal items, he thought this a deserving project. I hope many of you remember the kids if you're planning the same. Waste collectors won't nearly appreciate trophies as much as the kids.

Ok never mind I had to go to the internet and saw it was the half a dozen Goblet's i sent I never knew they was called chalices.

Ok remember I live across the big river and we don't shop at them fancy places down here and no one ever told me I won a chalices after the shoot was over.

If i can't figure it out then I might holler at you to see what a chalice really is.

Ok got to do some research now.

More here on the use of some of the plaques that were donated. The use was for my club's Ladies and Youth Trapshoot Camp. The certificates that were on the plaques were removed. The Plaques were then polished to a shine. New Certificates were then printed on new "gold framed" certificate paper, using a Borderbund program I have. Every winner beamed when call on to receive their trophy. These trophies came from TS.COM members, and I made no secret about that.

My current "Hero" is Mr. Doug Allison. Through the "grapevine" in his area, he learned of a widow that wanted to donate trophies to the youth. After she started living at an assisted home, her daughter brought Doug a large amount of trophies, most shooting related. I will travel to his area as soon as possible to pick them up. Now, if the trophy plates come as promised, the kids have an assured good year. Thank you to all!

I was able to pick up those trophies that Doug Allison got for my kids. Pretty nice trophies in all. I think I have a good allotment of trophies for this next season for the kids, so Ill give this thread a rest for this year. Anyone still having items to send, please allow me to store them for when the need for them arises. Everyone that has helped in the task for the kids deserves a huge "THANK YOU." Please watch for a new like thread next summer's end.

The only thing I have to do is pursue the plate promise from Eric Harvey in New London, Mo. I fear the young man promised something he couldn't follow through with. I say young because the only Eric Harvey I found in New London is only 21, and most likely NOT the owner of any Promotional or Trophy business. It may be in the family, as the business is a real one. I may try calling the business to find out if there has been an honest problem.

I just figured people needed me to drop the thread that was getting so long. I will start it anew toward the end of next summer. Those at the club will store the trophies in the back room until I get there to retrieve them. Thank you very much!
