ctreay, I am very aware of the multiple things that effect the cost to build a hospital, wouldn't you think that $3.5 million per bed is a little high when a state of the art can be built for less than $100,000 per bed?

Cost per bed is just a rule of thumb type thing, because filling the beds is what pays for a majority of the hospital

So this is the fault of whoever financed this obamination?- pleeeeze

Well the cost per bed is one thing. You have to figure in the operating rooms. the labs, the pharmicies, the hvac plant, cafeteria, all the little things. Then there are big things like construction costs and service on the debt load. The bankers are going to jack the total up more than anybody.

Isn't that like the $240 Million high school in L.A.?

I think this is in the right category, in this months Medical Construction and Design magazine there was an article about a new hospital opening up in Escondido Ca the has 288 beds and cost over one billion dollars

That works out to a little under $3.5 million per bed

Only a pol would approve of something at that cost

And they wonder why this country is going broke

I guess it's the way our bloated gov't has made trillion the new buzz word when it comes to debt, a billion isn't anything
